	Inflammation Inflammation is the response of the body’s immune system to damaged cells and vascularized tissues by microbial pathogens, injurious chemicals or physical insults. Upon receiving the inflammatory stimulus, the immune response engages through the release of chemical messengers called cytokines to recruit leukocytes to the injured area to control the “invasion”.
