IP-1003 for Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) consists of two chronic inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn’s disease (CD). The exact cause of IBD is unknown, although it is suspected that a combination of environmental, infectious, genetic and autoimmune factors are involved.

Additionally, bacterial infection and the subsequent inflammatory cascade can aggravate IBD. It affects more than 1 million Americans.

IP-1003 is a proprietary fixed combination drug, with DHEA as a primary active ingredient, that reduced colonic lesions and inflammatory markers in repeated IBD animal model studies.

Inflabloc is continuing development of this fixed-combination drug with clinical studies planned to initiate in 2006.
